Leave It To Beaver star Tony Dow has died at 77 a day after his management team prematurely announced his death while he was still alive in a hospice on Tuesday. In later years, he became an in-demand TV director and acclaimed sculptor.He also appeared on TV shows including Lassie, Adam-12, Mod Squad, Knight Rider, Charles in Charge and Murder, She Wrote.He starred alongside Jerry Mathers and late stars Hugh Beaumont, Barbara Billingsley and Ken Osmond.Dow played Wally Cleaver in all 234 episodes of Leave It To Beaver from 1957 to 1963.His costar Jerry Mathers shared a moving tribute to Dow before he was reported alive.The actor and his wife Lauren announced he had been diagnosed with cancer earlier in May.Tony's son Christopher confirmed the news in a statement that was released by his management on Facebook.A new statement released Wednesday stated that he has now passed away.Tony Dow has now died at 77 a day after his management prematurely announced his death.Tony Dow dead at 77: Leave It To Beaver star passes away following cancer battle - one day after his management prematurely announced his death on Facebook
